Get to know your mask

Three mask styles.
Find your fit.

Start with where the mask sits. Compare nasal pillows, nasal masks, and full face masks through three examples you can see up close.

Explore the three styles

Nasal pillows

F&P Solo Pillows

Where it seals

At the nostrils

A small seal, right at the nose.

Soft pillows sit at the nostril openings, leaving the mouth uncovered. This style has a small contact area around the nose.

About this example

Solo’s AutoFit headgear adjusts with a stretch and touch. Its AirPillow cushion seals in and around the nostrils.

ResMed AirTouch N20

Where it seals

Over the nose

Nose coverage with a foam cushion.

A nasal mask seals around the nose and leaves the mouth free. The AirTouch N20 uses memory foam where the cushion meets your face.

About this example

The AirTouch N20 is the memory foam option in the N20 family. Its front elbow disconnects from the tubing without taking the mask off.

Full face mask

03
Philips Respironics DreamWear Full Face, showing the cushion, headgear, and hose connection

Philips Respironics

DreamWear Full Face

Where it seals

Under the nose + over the mouth

Nose and mouth coverage, below the bridge.

Full face masks accommodate breathing through the nose or mouth. DreamWear’s cushion sits beneath the nose and seals around the mouth, leaving the nasal bridge clear.

About this example

The hose connects at the top of the head. Air travels through the frame to the under-the-nose full face cushion.

Models shown are examples of each style, not a statement of current stock. Seal illustrations are simplified; fit varies by face and cushion size.

The details, side by side

What changes between these masks?

Coverage defines the category. Cushion materials and tube connections depend on the model.

“Under the nose” can mean two different things.

A nasal cradle sits beneath the nose and leaves the mouth open. DreamWear Full Face sits beneath the nose and covers the mouth. Check the full model name when comparing masks or replacement cushions.

From style to fit

Bring your nightly routine into the conversation.

Tell your fitting team about nasal congestion, mouth leaks, skin sensitivity, and your usual sleep position. A comfortable seal matters more than choosing by appearance alone.
